Position Title: Part-time Accounting/Bookkeeper
Hours: Onsite, Average 6-8 Hours per week (low around 4 hours and high around 12 hours)
Job Summary: Using ACS Realm and Financial Suite, perform the day to day financial duties of the Church, including AP, GL, Payroll, Reconciliations, Payroll Taxes and Reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enter Payables, prepare checks based upon check requests (twice a week, currently Mondays and Thursdays usually between 70-80 checks a month)
- Set up ACH Payroll for Approval (twice a month)
- Enter Pledge Payments (ACS/REALM) based upon photocopies of checks from Counters’ deposits (weekly, usually on Mondays)
- Process and special deposits as needed (All routine pledge payments and cash are processed by the counters for weekly deposit.)
- Insure accurate and timely input of all financial transactions, reconciliation of multiple bank and investment accounts, as well as identify and implement any required adjusting entries
- Maintain accurate balances and transaction history of all Special Funds Accounts
- Make online tax deposits after each payroll
- Provide Treasurer with all 941 reconciliations and report preparation
- Enter annual budget, developing and deleting accounts for Chart of Accounts as needed
- Provide stock donation letter confirmations
- Enter pledges, weekly payments and generate quarterly statements using ACS Realm
- Prepare financial reports and respond to financial inquiries as needed
- Provide support to Treasurers for annual audit
- Other duties and responsibilities as identified by Treasurers or Rector
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Successful accounting experience in a church or non-profit organization
- Demonstrated competency General Ledger software, including AP and Payroll, is required (Experience with ACS REALM and ACS Financial Suite is preferred)
- Formal accounting training, coursework or degree
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve financial record keeping issues
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) to identify and solve problems
- Maintain a positive attitude at all times and poise under pressure
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks and functions
- Personal dress and appearance appropriate to the business and ministry of the Church
- Use discretion and confidentiality concerning financial and payroll information of church life
